Divemaster PADI

If you've loved diving so much that you want to share it with others, the PADI Divemaster program is for you. In this course, you'll take the first step into the professional world of diving.

The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll hone your diving skills, such as mastering effortless floating, and improve your rescue techniques so that you can easily anticipate and resolve common problems. You'll increase your diving knowledge, management and supervision skills so that you become a role model for divers around the world.

As a PADI Divemaster, you'll guide other divers as you supervise diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a remote dive destination or close to home at a local dive business, the adventure of a lifetime awaits. PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals who are affiliated with the world's largest and most respected dive training organization – PADI.


Academic

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of diving activities. Through knowledge development sessions, in-water skills exercises and seminars, and through practical assessment, you'll develop the skills to organize and lead a variety of diving activities. Topics and practical seminars include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster

  • Supervising diving activities and assisting with student divers

  • Diver safety and risk management

  • Divemaster-led programs and specialized techniques

  • The business of diving and your career

  • Awareness of the diving environment

  • Organizing and leading dives

  • Mapping an open water dive site

  • Conducting dive briefings

  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive

  • Leading a scuba review and skin diver course

  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving programs and leading Discover Local Diving programs

PADI Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years old can participate in the PADI Divemaster course. You also need to have:

  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.

  • A medical statement signed by a doctor within the last 12 months.

  • At least 40 dives logged in the diving log to start the course and 60 dives to get the certification.

Please note that equivalent certifications from other diving training organizations may be useful – ask us how.
